The Federal Perkins Loan Program offers low-interest subsidized federal student loans for both undergraduate and graduate students with exceptional financial need. Note: As of September 2017, schools are no longer authorized to make new Perkins Loans. The last disbursement of these final loans occurred in June 2018.
PERKINS LOAN REPAYMENT
Borrowers must begin repayment on Federal Perkins Loans after they graduate, drop below half-time, or separate from school. Graduated borrowers will be contacted at their UConn email address by UConn’s contracted loan servicer, Heartland ECSI, to complete online exit counseling. Borrowers are encouraged to log into their ECSI account to complete online exit counseling, view their current balance, and make payments. ECSI should also be notified of all changes in borrower address, phone, email, and name.
